Cylindrical

Cylindrical lenses have a spherical radius along only one axis, hence it focuses light along a line (as opposed to a point for spherical lens). It is used in applications where magnification is required only along a single axis (or dimension). Their primary use is in bar code scanning, laser projection and holography. Cylindrical lenses can be plano-concave or plano-convex and are usually circular or rectangular.
